Greetings! Hope you all had a great year trapping. Fur prices seem to be doing well. Have to see if I can find a few spring beaver to trap. It looks like the wolf season went extremely well. I saw some pictures of some nice ones that had been caught. Next year the DNR hopes to have CITIES tags available. The 220 issue has come up once again. I can't stress enough the importance of being careful where you’re setting bodygrip traps. Good rule of thumb is if it’s questionable don't set it. The MTA Summer Convention will be held in Litchfield this year. Pete and his crew have lined up a great facility. More information is available on the website. They could use some more volunteers so let them know if you have time. This year’s raffle tickets are also available. If you’ve sold your 10 and need more contact Gary Meis and he will get them to you. I was present District 5's spring meeting and as usual it was very well attended. They do an outstanding job. Looked like plenty of fur was being sold and they put on few demos as well. Many trappers were at the winter meeting. Vendors and fur buyers were also there. There were a couple of demos. I would like to thank Shannon Cohrs and Tom Olson for doing them. I would also like to thank all the people that helped set up and clean up after the winter meeting. It certainly was nice to have a many of people working together. The DNR ran out of otter tags at the meeting this year. We'll have to make sure they bring more next year. My apologies if you weren't able to tag yours. This year’s Legal Defense Banquet was a huge success; thanks to Buzz and his crew for a great evening. There were many new prizes this year and everyone seemed to have a good time. The meal was good again this year; thanks to Ringers Bar for catering. Next year’s winter meeting and legal banquet will be in the same place. It is never too early to get your motel reservations. We sold out of tickets this year and had a waiting list, so make sure and get your tickets early. They can be picked up at the MTA booth at the summer convention. The FTA convention is being held in Marshfield, Wisconsin this year. The dates are June 27-29. If you get a chance make the drive over to Marshfield it's a great time. District 4's spring meeting will be held on March 16th at Page Township Hall. More information on this one and the other districts is on the website. Hope to see you at some of the spring meetings.
