Vice President's Report

March - 2016

The winter meeting is over and the turnout was good despite the low fur prices. Lots of people checking fur prices and it looked like some were selling. We will be back at the East Central High School January 7th next year and we will have bobcat tagging as the season is a week later.

The Legal Banquet took place later that night and the turnout was great. We had a new caterer this year and the food was excellent. Lots of great prizes and sounds like quite a bit of money was raised.  Buzz did another great job of planning and setting everything up. Thanks to all the volunteer help at both events. It's nice to see people stepping up and helping out. Also I'd like to thank Jim Jorgenson from JJ's Auction Service for auctioneering the consignment auction and emceeing the Legal Banquet. Next year’s Legal Banquet will again be at the Askov Community Center on January 7th.

The summer convention will be August 11-13 in Fergus Falls. The convention starts on Thursday at noon and concludes Saturday evening after the dance. There will be no Sunday activities this year. Look on the website for a list of motels if you need one. They get busy there in the summer so make your reservations early. There will be onsite camping available also.

The raffle tickets are available and Tom Boser is our new raffle chairman, so if you need additional tickets contact him and he will take care of you. He's doing a good job and is easy to work with so hopefully we will have another great raffle this year. We have signs listing the raffle prizes to use at fairs and other events you sell raffle tickets at. Contact your District Director if you'd like to use one.

The Nonresident vote was taken at the winter meeting and passed 200-163. It's too bad more members didn't bother to vote.

I'm going to try and make some of the spring meetings so hopefully we'll see you there. Anyone wishing to bring things up with the MTA the district meetings is where to do it.

See you this spring,
