MTA/NTA 2012
CONVENTION REPORT
Greetings! I hope this report finds all of you doing well and finding your traps full. First, to let everyone know, I have moved and have new contact information. Please see the end of the report for my new email address and telephone number for contacting me. The time is ticking away towards next summer’s big NTA convention in Owatonna and I wanted to take this time to give you an update on what is happening and the progress that has been made.
This past summer at the MTA convention, I had a sign-up sheet available at the MTA booth for volunteers to sign-up for some convention duty for next year. I had quite a few people sign-up to volunteer, but we can always use more. I will again be having this at the upcoming winter meeting, so if you didn’t get a chance to sign-up please take the opportunity to do so at the winter meeting. As I previously stated, the more volunteers we have the easier it will go and we can insure MN will put on a convention to remember by all who attend.
Other news to share, I have been working with Terry McElmury to come up with a neat logo to put on the incentive items that will be given out to the volunteers who put in a certain amount of time. Hopefully we will have an example at the winter meeting for viewing. I also have been working with the NTA office to develop the official NTA convention logo as well. At this time I have most of my chairman spots filled for the convention, however I do have some areas still open and would like to get these filled. The areas I am still looking for chairman in are as follows: Auction, Family Activities, Sunday Service, and Trap Setting Contest. If you would be interested in chairing any of these areas for me please give me a call or drop me an email. I have a full description of what they would entail and they are very easy to oversee.
Below, I have included once again the incentive levels and prizes, so anybody who missed in previous newsletter can see them again. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a large number of volunteers helping out. Even if you can only give a few hours to help out it would be greatly appreciated!
Breakdown of Incentive levels:
Level One: Anyone who volunteers from 4-10 hours will be entitled to a commemorative T-shirt from the 2012 convention.
Level Two: Anyone who volunteers 11-20 hours will be entitled to a commemorative sweatshirt or vest (to be determined)
Level Three: Anyone who volunteers 21-39 hours will be entitled to a custom made commemorative jacket with their name screened on the front.
Level Four: Anyone who volunteers 40 or more hours during the convention will be entitled to receive a $100 gift certificate from their choice of the big three dealers in MN. (Minnesota Trapline Products, Northwest Trappers Supply, or Schmitt Enterprises)
All time will be recorded at the MTA booth during the convention and volunteers will be assigned shifts to work based on their ability to volunteer and how much time they can give. I will have a sign-up sheet at the MTA booth during the 2012 MTA winter meeting. If you sign up you will then be contacted and I will verify as to how much time you are willing to give. All final decisions of where people will be assigned to work will be made by me. Volunteers when arriving at the convention will need to check in at the MTA booth and sign in and then sign out again at the end of perspective shifts. Other volunteers who will be serving as group leaders of certain areas will not need to do this as they will be required to work this area throughout the convention.
If you are interested in helping out I encourage you to sign-up at the winter meeting. You may also contact me at mnminker@tds.net or call 1-218-562-4050 in the evenings and I will be happy to answer questions on this you may have.
With that being said, I wish you all the luck on your continued trapping throughout the season. Again, if you are interested in any of the earlier mentioned Chairman positions let me know. They are very easy to handle and I would make sure you have whatever you need in way of volunteers and support to get the job done.
Until next time be well,
Todd Roggenkamp, MTA/NTA Convention Coordinator
