The Help A Beginner Program, seeks to encourage the expansion of our sport, by donating a half dozen traps to all youth trappers 16 and under, who go thru a trapper certification program and belong to the MTA.
Because of the expansion of the certification process, we’re currently in need of Traps. If you have any traps that you’d like to see donated to the Help A Beginner Program, I’d be glad to receive them. No need to ship them to me. Simply bring them to the Winter or Summer meetings. I’m sure your district officer would be glad to transfer them to me, if you bring them to a district meeting as well. I’m looking for Youth appropriate gear, namely #1, #1 1/2, and small Conibears. Think mink, muskrat, and raccoon trapping.
On another note, I’d like to encourage any and all trappers to take a non-trapper on their lines this year; whether youth or adult. Not only does it spread understanding, it just might encourage much needed interest in our sport.
Thanks and Good Trapping
